Day 29 - SALLY'S, STONEHENGE & BATH

.Left London this morning a bit late (the car hire guy arrived an hour late) - picked up the car from Fulham and very carefully left London with full written instructions from the hire company.           Drove to Sally's (Kim's mum's bridesmaid) who has lived here for the last 52 years and who she stayed with the first time she came to the UK in 1984.      We had a lovely 5-course lunch there and spent a great 3 hours catching up on our respective families. Sally lives in Crowthorne, near Wokingham.

After leaving Sally's we continued on to Stonehenge. Really interesting commentary which gave meaning to the possible reasons it was built and the meaning of various parts of the arrangement of the huge stones. Amazing how they got these massive rocks to their final resting place.
Eventually, with much careful navigation, and a lot of luck (having asked twice how to get to Lansdown Road and getting lost twice) we arrived at our hotel in Bath. Settled in then did a circuit of the outskirts of the city centre. On the way, we found a golf course (right near the centre) which Kim just had to climb to the highest green to get a photo of the view - Sharon was happy to stand near at the bottom so she didn't get hit by flying golf balls. Notice the awesome view of Bath in the background! (This is from a low green, so Sharon could take the photo!)  After quite a bit of walking we landed at the Roman Baths - now we knew how we had to go tomorrow to get there again.
Here we have Sharon standing in front of her Aston Martin in the Royal Crescent - this is where all the posh people live and so she felt right at home. We thought the higher up Lansdown Crescent had a better view though as the trees were really high in front of the Royal one!

Whilst wandering around the centre of Bath, we came upon this really cute shop with heaps of unusual teapots in the window. This is just one of many - Sharon thought this was the cutest - Michelle would be in her element, so this one is for her.

, Here lies the view from the window of our hotel bedroom - yes, you might say 'that looks like it's on a high hill' and you would be right! It's great with the car but as the parking was a little difficult, we walked into town and of course we then had to walk back home after our cool pub dinner. Sharon's legs were a little sore the next day, but of course Kim, the mountain goat she is, just loped up it! Of course, the next day, we discovered the bus!
