Day 17 - VENICE TO SALZBURG

Caught the vaporetto to the bus station this morning - took 11.20 bus to Villach in Austria (3 1/2 hours)and connected to the train to Salzburg (2 1/2 hours), arriving at our hotel around 6pm. Big transport day!

We were two of only 6 people (and a dog!) in first class on the bus - tea/coffee making, lovely comfortable leather seats, a table on which to do laptop stuff - a very easy way to travel!

Arrived in Salzburg and came out of the train station on the wrong side, having taken the advice of someone we asked who told us we had to cross the footbridge - yes - more steps - at least 40 going up carrying our ever increasingly heavy bags but a nice man helped Sharon take hers down the other side! OH - wrong street - saw taxi - got ride to other side!

The train was once again also very comfortable and with hardly any people. Good old Austrians - on time to the second! The best part of this trip tho' was the absolutely stunning scenery.

We crossed the Tauern Mountains in the Central Eastern Alps and the panoramic views from such heights was awesome. have included photos of this fantastic trip.

Great hotel - 2 single adjoining rooms with own bathrooms! Sharon decided she would like to forget going anywhere else on the holiday and just stay here!
