Took vaporetto all along the Grand Canal to the railway station, lunch (paid 22 Euros for a microwaved Calzone that Sharon just could not eat –mine was nice!, and 2 pineapple juices – but we did have the privilege of sitting outside watching the world go by!)
Wandered around Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, I love this city. Decaying, but so beautiful. Lots of buildings, including by the Bridge if Sighs, are being repaired and are covered by painted netting. Even Piazza San Marco is not how I remember it as there are at least 3 buildings partially covered and a large area of the square is cordoned off as they are repairing the Campanile as well.
Bought food for dinner at a supermarket (the lines were crazy as tomorrow is Republic Day and a national holiday and a lot of shops will not be open) as we are running low on funds and have to eat cheaply for a while – didn’t even buy any alcohol!
